Reg.: BIWA in News :-
      It is a matter of pride that the activities of  BIWA have been widely reported in  the
      Suburban  times  issue of Times of  India dtd. 28th Dec. 2001.  A  copy of  the  news 
     article is attached herewith for your reference.

Regarding water rate hike of MIDC :-
      As  you are aware that MIDC had revised the water charges payable w.e.f. 1st Nov.
      2001. All the Associations  of Maharashtra are trying to convince the   Government 
      of Maharashtra  to the sanity in scaling down the steep water hike. However,  little 
      success has  been so far. But  the  MIDC office is  accepting  payments  at  the   old
      rate for the  month of December 2001. It is advisable for members, that they    pay
      their MIDC bills of the  month of December 2001   at the  old  rate, but   by   making 
      a suitable provision for full amount in your accounting records.


•   Reg.: New MERC Tariff notification :-
     Members  may  please be informed  that   the  new  MERC  (Maharashtra  Electricity 
     Regulatory Commission) Tariff  Notification  w.e.f.   1st January  2002,  is  available
     with BIWA office  on  payment  of Rs. 50/- only. Interested  units  may  contact   to
     BIWA office. 


Reg.: Chlorine Handling Programme :-
      BADALAPUR INDUSTRIES WELFARE ASSOCIATION, KAMA and  DISH (Department of 
      Industrial  Safety & Health - Factory Inspector Kalyan)  have jointly  conducted  a 
      Chlorine  Handling   Programme  in  BIWA  House  on 5/1/2001.20-25   candidates
      from  various  units  had  participated  in  this   programme.  Mr. Karnik &   Mr.Shah
      from National Rayon Company delivered lecture on this. All the participants   were
      issued certificates.

       
Reg.: Rationalisation of Rules and Procedure ( Factory Act).:-
      The Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health,  Maharashtra State,  have  informed
      that some amendments have been made in the Rules framed under the  Factories
      Act 1948.
      The important charges under the said  Act and Rules  made  there  under  are   as 
      follows:

      (i)   The period  of  License  is  increased  to  10  years at  a   time    from   previous
              provisions of 5 years.

      (ii)   6  Forms  under  the  Maharashtra  Factories  rule  1963  have  been   omitted.


•    Reg.: 80G Certificate of BIWA :-
       The  Managing  Committee  is pleased  to inform that the work  obtaining  the 80G
       certificate is at  a  very  advanced  stage  and  we  should  be   receiving  the  80G
       certificate for our Association shortly.


•    Reg.: Increased frequency in Train:-
       The efforts put  by  BIWA  and  others NGO's have resulted   in   more  number   of 
       trains  to  and  from  Badalapur, some  of  them  at very  convenient   timings   for 
       MIDC. Reg.: Donation/ Advertisement for BIWA House renovation :-
      Members are reminded once again of the proposal for renovation  of BIWA  House
      Members are requested to contribute generously for this cause. 


•    Reg.: Membership I.D. Cards:-
      BIWA has received completed forms from many units for  membership  I.D.  Cards 
      You are requested to please fill  up & send  the  completed form  alongwith  stamp
      size photograph & cheque of Rs. 50/- to BIWA House at the earliest.
