Regarding water charges hike by MIDC :
We would like to inform of the efforts/developments regarding roll back of water
charges hike by MIDC.
BIWA has joined hands with all other associations in protesting the water charges
hike by MIDC . However for the information of all BIWA members we are
giving herewith the present status of water Rate by MIDC :-
(i) There was an agreement on 22/6/98 between MIDC and all associations
of Maharashtra which would restrict increase of water charges by MIDC
to the maximum of 7% per year. In case of any increase more than 7%,
industrial associations would be consulted and decision taken after
consultation only. For the information of all BIWA members the copy of
agreement is being circulated herewith.
(ii) However, in November we received information of increase in water
charges by almost 56%. On protest, we have received a target letter
No. CEO/OH/3059/2001 dtd. 15/11/2001 from MIDC CEO, Shri Jayant
Kawale. A copy of which is also enclosed herewith for the information
of members.
(iii) After joining of all associations, all efforts are being made to ensure
that there is a roll back of water charges hike. However, in view of
water charges hike. However, in view of the on going Assembly
Session in Nagpur and the financial conditions of the various Semi
Government bodies in Maharashtra, there has not been much
development in this regard. However, all associations have made
their efforts more vigorous in this week. In the meantime, BIWA
would like to advise its members in the below mentioned manner.
However , please note that the ultimate decision of roll back or to
maintain status-quo in the rate revision is the prerogative of the
MIDC/Government. In case of a negative response, a legal case may
also be considered by all the associations.
ADVISE TO MEMBERS
(i) Please send in individual protest letter in the format enclosed herewith
to the mentioned authorities who would be making a difference in the
rate structure. (with a copy of BIWA).
(ii) BIWA members may pay the MIDC bill of November 2001 at the old
rates. However it should be noticed that we have requested the MIDC
(CEO) and received assurance that no water supply would be
disconnected of industrial units who pay their water charges at the old
rates.( Please note that, similar advise/ decision is taken by nearby
associations.)
